RADAR presents UNRAVEL
I have recently started doing some photography for the RADAR Dance Co. It has been awhile since I have photographed dance, but this is a good group and it has been fun. Below is one of the recent publicity stills we did. Their upcoming program is titled, UNRAVEL, An Evening Length Concert. The date is April 5, 2014 at 3:00 and 7:00 PM at the Dogtown Dance Theatre.

Sonya Clark at Reynolds Gallery
Sonya Clark has an exhibit currently at Reynolds Gallery in Richmond, Virginia. I have photographed Sonya's wonderful work for awhile and recommend you go see the show. It is up through April 4, 2014. Below are several of the pieces from the show. Some of these are photographs I did in the gallery and some were done in Sonya's studio. Visit the Reynolds Gallery website for information about the work.
Gov. McAuliffe & Patrick Henry at St. John's Church
As part of Governor McAuliffe's inaugural weekend, St. John's Church Foundation held a reenactment of Patrick Henry's famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech. I had the pleasure of being the Foundation's photographer for that event. Below are some of the pictures of the Governor and others in attendance along with the delegates to that historic meeting.

Recent Fine Art Photography
Below are the images I have shot recently for several artists. Each one does fantastic work and each body of work in its own way presents me with new challenges. All three have a surface that requires just the right lighting and technique to capture the true look of the piece. Enjoy.

Exhibition Installation Panoramas
During the Fall, I had the opportunity to create several panoramic views of exhibition installations. For the University of Richmond Museums, I documented Jay Bolotin's The Jackleg Testament Continues exhibit at the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art. Mr. Bolotin had for several days added text and drawings to the walls of the gallery around his framed prints. The University Museums wanted to document this work and the overall exhibit. I also did several panoramas for Sukjin Choi's exhibition at artspace gallery. Her work consisted of ceramic sculptures hung on the walls to create an overall installation. I have included two of the images below, along with views of the respective galleries.
This view Jay Bolotin's installation was created from 12 vertical images merged to create a high-resolution image of one wall with hand written text. Below is a view of the gallery. The wall is the one on the left.
This panorama is a combination of the two walls in the gallery view below. To create this view of Sukjin Choi's exhibit over 15 vertical images were merged together as well as two different walls. The artist was interested in seeing the piece as if installed on one wall, which the size of the gallery did not allow.

Better Housing Coalition Annual Report
A look back to the summer and some images from the BHC Annual Report. These are portraits of three people who have benefited from BHC housing developments. It was pretty warm and humid when these images were taken, but all the people did very well posing outside in the heat.

Joan Elliott wins Bader Fund Award
Congratulations to Joan Elliott on being one of four winners of a 2013 Bader Fund Award. The award given by the Franz and Virginia Bader Fund provides funds to an artist to continue their work and focus on a project. This is a very prestigious award, and well deserved. I have photographed Joan's paintings for a number of years now and have always been very impressed. I have included below three images of recent work. It is always hard for me to choose what to put on the blog, her paintings are all so wonderful.
Since it is snowing, I had to include this painting. It is not often that Joan paints a snow scene.

The New Buildings at Collegiate School
I have been very neglectful of this blog this year. So, I will hopefully make up for the that in the next few weeks. To start off, I want to include images I did this Fall for Collegiate School. These are views of the new buildings and additions on campus. The night shots are of the new addition to the Hershey Center for the Fine Arts. The structure on the left in the photographs is the new H2L2 wing for the visual arts. I took the shots just after a storm had cleared and students were arriving for play rehearsal. The other view is of the new Sharp Academic Commons. You can see the H2L2 wing of HCA to the right in the background. This image as well as the image of the Lower School with the kids running were done for the brochure announcing the new Head of the School.
