Seeds of the Past opens at the LCVA

Seeds of the Past: The Keith Kissee Collection of American Art from the 1930s and 1940s has its opening at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts on August 20. This is an exhibition of a wonderful private collection of Depression era art. Mr Kissee has pulled together a very interesting collection over the years which fills his house in Richmond, Virginia. I had the pleasure of photographing the works in this exhibit earlier this summer at Mr. Kissee's home. While photographing art on location can be challenging, the task was made easier with the help of the LCVA staff and the curators of this exhibition. Below is the painting used for the announcement postcard with its details. The other two paintings are just a couple of my favorites. Sorry, I don't have the artist information on those. The exhibition runs through January 8, 2011 at the LCVA in Farmville, Virginia. If you are interested in the exhibit the LCVA's phone number is 434-395-2206.

Frederick Heppner Buchholz, The Auction, circa 1938 oil on canvas, 29.5 x 41.5 inches.
