Allan Rosenbaum / New Work

It had been awhile since I photographed work for Allan Rosenbaum, but this Fall I twice shot new work for him. Below I have included some recent pieces from this Fall. While Allan is known for his ceramic work, these two works are cast glass. This medium is always a challenge to photograph and to get a good representation of the piece. I love these two sculptures and the images turned out well.

Susan Adams / Western Design Conference

As the New Year begins, it is time to catch up on my blog. I am going back to the beginning of the Fall for my first entry. I have long photographed the wonderful jewelry and metalwork of Susan Adams, which is pictured below. As in the past, Susan won an award at the Western Design Conference, this time for her cocktail shaker with cup and tray. I have also included some images of her recent jewelry pieces, she had at the show.

Patrick Henry at State Capitol

The St. John's Church Foundation held it's celebration of Patrick Henry's birthday with a reenactment of his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech at the Virginia State Capitol for the first time in history. After the event, Governor McDonnell and his wife hosted a reception at the Governor's Mansion. Below are images from the event, held earlier this summer . I think the reenactors enjoyed the chance to use the House of Delegates chamber. Everyone enjoyed the reception later at the Governor's Mansion.

Suzanna Fields, Paintings

What can I say I love Suzanna's work. This artist is one of those people, I just can't wait to see what she is going to bring in. I have included two recent pieces here, more for how they will render this small than that they are my favorites. Then again these are awfully fun and wonderful. These are just examples of some of the art that I have photographed over the last few months. I have not uploaded any art in awhile and wanted to catch up. As I have said before I am lucky to be able to photograph for an amazing group of artists. Enough said, enjoy this small sampling of work.

I thought I would include the details of these pieces for two reasons. One to show how important details are, and also because it is fun for me to create new work, in a sense, by photographing a detail of some one's art.

GRCC Annual Dinner & Impact Award

The Greater Richmond Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner and Impact Awards was a chance to review the accomplishments of the year and give awards out to businesses that had an impact on the community. As I have for many years, I was again the photographer for the event. For me the excitement is the final award given to a small business that has grown and done innovative things as a company as well as in the community. The thrill for me, is that often the winner is a business who's people I know.

Tom Silvestri, President & Publisher, Richmond Times-Dispatch greets people with a cutout of past president, Gary L. Rhodes, Ed.D. President of J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, who could not attend.

With Mr. Silvestri as host the evening took a media theme to showcase achievements.

John Marshall Medal in Law Gala

For years I have had the pleasure of working with the John Marshall Foundation. I believe I have done photography for the Foundation since it began with it's Teacher Awards years ago. Over the years I have gotten to know some wonderful people through my work for JMF. Recently, JMF held a Gala to give the John Marshall Medal in Law to a distinguished jurist who lives up to the ideals of John Marshall. This year they honored former Chief Justice of the Virginia Harry L. Carrico. The author David Baldacci was one of the presenters for the evening. Also in attendance was a large group of Justice Carrico's former law clerks, as well as descendants of John Marshall.
